I was sick on Tuesday, and couldn't do the show. I was going to be Producer. I realized too late that I should have watched the show online that day.
On Thursday, I was Director for the first time. I had to call the show. Working with the producer to write stories and prepare the show went well. The actual execution of the show was a bit of a mess. I needed more time to prepare since it was my first time directing. I didn't have all my ducks in a row when the show started, but I handled it as well as I could.
My biggest problem was that I was talking to the wrong people part of the time. I had thought talent was on A and the studio was on B. I had it backwards, and I got very confused when the teleprompter couldn't hear me. I had tested the audio ahead of time but I confused myself and did it completely wrong when it was show time. That was all my fault.
Despite the problems, the show came out ok. It was better than I thought it would be. I definitely need a lot more work before I direct anything again.
Next week we plan to do some interviews. Our final will be a 30 minute show. Should be interesting.

Today's broadcast went very well. Jamal was our sole anchor today.
I was Producer. I think did an ok job, and could definitely do better with a second shot at it. It was hard to know which stories were most important and how to order the rundown. I got most of it done rather quickly. I had forgotten to edit the intros and outros and Mr. Horton helped me approve the scripts. My job during the live show went well and it was easy to click through the weather PowerPoint.
Callie directed for the first time. It was funny listening to her when we watched the show with multiview afterwards.
No show next week!

We had some mess ups today. We were short-staffed. Brandon stepped up and became Producer. We had a new director and he did well for his first time.
Moving out of the double boxed shot was a problem. We saw Corey ducking out of the shot and Callie turning to another camera.
Audio also had some issues with a bump not playing and missing Alan's VO.
Things went well for me today. I got my stories done quickly. I had trouble using Lyric to make the CGs, but Mr. Horton helped me figure it all out. None of them were misspelled!
I also did the lighting and the teleprompter. It went very smoothly.
Our show went well considering how many people were missing.
I will be Producer on Thursday. This will be my first time as producer and I'll have to learn a lot quickly.

Today's show was a bit of a mess.
There was just a lot of miscommunication. The director was calling different shots than those on the rundown. A CG was misspelled. The director called for a SOTVO that the video editor did not know was supposed to be there.
We did a live shot with Jesse from broadcast performance. That went well, except for the missing sound bite.
I was audio. It went very well except I was expecting a cue from the director for a bump when I was supposed to take it upon myself to play the bump music.
We should definitely do better next time.

Another good broadcast.
I was in charge of audio for the first time. Brandon and Rob helped me figure it all out. It was a bit intimidating as we got closer to going live and I was still learning, but by the time we hit the air I was ready. I think I did pretty well. I could gone a bit quicker and made things a bit smoother, but it went well for my first time. I did accidentally bring Jamal up too early after a break and we can hear him say "Camera 2?"
I also helped Brandon with video playback and Ray with the cameras some.
Its still entertaining being in the control room. I feel like that's where the action happens.
Our show keeps improving. We used Callie for one liveshot in the A block. Dave also used boxes as TD.
Looking forward to Thursday's show.

Today's broadcast went well. I had the videos I needed early and was prepared for my job as Video Playback when we went on air. I made one mistake and played a video not at its beginning.
We were supposed to have somebody from Broadcast Journalism come to do a liveshot with us, but they didn't show up.
We had too many stories and had to end early. I still think the show went smoothly and sounded natural.
One CG was misspelled and we had to cut it.
There's still room for improvement but I think today's broadcast was good.

Today was the third livestream of Ozarks News Brief.
The show was a bit of a disaster.
The producer didn't seem to be in charge. There were problems with scripts and videos not being ready.
I was video playback for the first time. This was just my second time in the control room. It is very hectic in there but I think I prefer it to being in the studio.
The AP was new this time. He struggled to download and edit the videos. We almost had to cut the videos out of the broadcast. I know if I had had more time to prepare, I could have done a better job at video playback.
As I understand it, there were also issues with the CGs not being ready.
This certainly felt like our worst show yet. Mr. Horton said it was good enough to archive. I'll have to see it to believe it.
